'' Francesco Maria Emanuele Gaetani '', marquis of Villabianca, Count of Belforte (Palermo, 12 March 1720 – Palermo, 6 February 1802), historian researcher in the history of Palermo and author of '' Sicilia Nobile '', was a member of the Family Emanuele.

The Marquis Francesco Maria Emanuele Gaetani, son of Benedetto Emanuele (or Emmanuele) and Cassandra Gaetani e Alliata, he was senator of Palermo in 1775-76, General Commissioner of the Kingdom of Sicily, governor of the noble "Compagnia della Carità" (Society of Charity) in 1750, Governor of the "Monte di Pietà". Passionate and erudite scholar of the history of Sicily he published many other works, including, in 1776, ''Notizie storiche intorno agli antichi uffizii del regno di Sicilia'' (Historical around the ancient ceremonies were the kingdom of Sicily); he left numerous manuscripts preserved today at the Biblioteca Comunale di Palermo and collected in 25 volumes of ''Diari palermitani'' (1743-1802). These are partly published by Gioacchino Di Marzo, today in the ''Biblioteca Storica e Letteraria di Sicilia'' (Historical Library and Literary of Sicily). In his work ''Opuscoli Palermitani'', vol. XVI, he shows the birth of Beati Paoli as a reaction to the violence of the Norman; should be recalled that several historians linked the Beati Paoli with the primary basis of Italian Mafia.
